Best Time to Visit Dubai, Month by Month

Best time to visit Dubai: November to March, usually

In short: The best time to visit Dubai is November to March, when daytime highs usually sit between 24 and 31 °C. June to September is about 40 °C and humid, so most of the day is spent indoors.

You’ve got a week off work or a school break, you’ve half-decided on Dubai, and then somebody in the family says “isn’t it unbearably hot there?” Sometimes that’s true. Sometimes it’s a fair price for a cheaper trip. The point is to choose it knowingly, not to find out on the pavement outside the Dubai Mall.

If you want the hotel, transfers and sightseeing sorted in one place, VeeTrips lists a Delhi-departure package with the inclusions spelled out, and the about page shows who you’d be talking to in Dwarka. Pick the month first, though. That’s what the rest of this page is for.

The year in one table

Here are Dubai’s usual temperatures and rain, from the 1991 to 2020 averages on Wikipedia’s Dubai page. These are averages. A given week can run hotter or cooler, and I won’t promise you a particular day.

Usual daily high and low in Dubai, and rain, by month

Month Usual high (°C) Usual low (°C) Rain (mm)
November 31.0 20.1 2.7
December 26.0 16.3 16.2
January 24.0 14.3 18.8
February 25.0 15.5 25.0
March 30.0 18.3 22.1
April 34.0 21.7 7.2
May 37.5 25.1 0.4
August 42.1 30.4 0.2

Look at the low column as well as the high one. In August the night is 30.4 °C. There’s no cool evening to rescue you. In January, the coolest month, the high is 24.0 °C and the night drops to 14.3 °C.

That’s a bigger gap than people expect for a city that’s famous for heat. Wikivoyage says winter nights are usually 10 to 16 °C and tells you to be ready for cold ones, so a thin jacket for the evening is not a joke.

The seasons, as a traveller feels them

Dubai doesn’t really have four seasons. Wikivoyage says summer and winter are effectively the only two the city has. But for planning, it helps to split the year in three.

November to March: the cooler season. This is the answer most people want. Wikivoyage says the cooler, more pleasant weather lasts from the end of September to the beginning of May, with daytime highs of 20 to 25 °C from October to January and March to May. That’s the website’s range; the Wikipedia averages above run a little warmer in November and March. Both agree on the idea. You can walk outside, sit at a café table, go to the beach and not feel punished.

Expect it to be the busy part of the year. I don’t have a dated source on hotel prices by month, so I won’t quote any. Ask for the actual rate for your dates and compare.

April, May and October: the shoulder months. April averages a high of 34.0 °C, May 37.5 °C and October 36.5 °C. Mornings and evenings are fine. Midday is not. If your plan is mostly malls, museums and the aquarium type of thing, these months work well and the heat barely touches you. If your plan is a day at a theme park without shade, they’re hard.

June to September: the hot season. August is the hottest month, with an average high of 42.1 °C. Wikipedia says summer dew points can exceed 30 °C and the heat index can pass 60 °C. Wikivoyage goes further: heat and humidity of 60% to 70% near the coast effectively rule out most outdoor activity during daylight hours in summer.

I’d read that as: you’ll go from air-conditioned car to air-conditioned mall to air-conditioned hotel. Some people actually like that.

If you want the beach

For the beach, the answer is not the same as for the city. The sea matters.

Wikipedia puts the sea at its coolest in February at 20.6 °C and its warmest in August at 32.8 °C. That’s about 12 degrees between the two. Winter is nice air with cooler water. August is hot air and very warm water.

So the beach sweet spot, for most travellers, is the edges of the cool season: November and March, when the air is warm but not harsh and the sea has had time to warm or hasn’t yet cooled much. That’s my reading of the numbers, not a promise. Pack for both, and check the forecast a week out. Nobody can promise you a perfect beach day.

If you want sightseeing, desert and outdoor plans

Desert safaris, walking around old Dubai, the Gold Souk and any outdoor attraction suit December to February best. Highs are 24.0 to 26.0 °C. Rain is the one thing that can interrupt it: January and February are among the wettest months on the table, at 18.8 and 25.0 mm.

That sounds like a lot until you see the annual figure. Wikipedia describes Dubai as very dry, with about 79.2 mm a year on average, and Wikivoyage says some years bring no more than a few minutes of shower. So it’s a small risk. Keep a plan B indoors and you’ll be fine.

March is the other good one for outdoor days. At 30.0 °C it’s warm, not harsh. By April you want to do the outdoor part before lunch.

If you want it cheaper, or quieter

Summer is the low season. Wikivoyage mentions Dubai Summer Surprises, an event aimed at the summer low season, which tells you who the city is trying to bring in during those months: people who are happy to trade heat for a quieter trip.

I couldn’t find a dated source for how much cheaper hotels or flights get, so I’m not going to give you a percentage. What I’d do is ask for quotes for two different months and compare them line by line: flights from Delhi, hotel, meals, transfers. Our Goa guide has the same checklist, and it works for any package.

Which months fit what you want

What you want Usual best months The catch
Comfortable outdoor days December to February Busier, and a few rainy days are possible
Beach and water November, March Sea is coolest in February at 20.6 °C
Fewer people Summer, June to September Heat of about 40 °C and humidity
Malls and indoor trips Any month Summer is when it’s most worth it

If you can only travel in summer, don’t write the trip off. Book a hotel with a pool, plan your mornings and evenings, and spend midday inside. That’s the whole trick.

Ramadan and the big events

Ramadan moves about 10 to 11 days earlier every year, because the Islamic year is shorter than the solar one. Wikipedia lists Ramadan 2027 as beginning on 8 February 2027 and ending on 8 March 2027. It adds that dates can differ by a day between countries, so check close to your travel date.

Why does it matter for a holiday? Wikivoyage warns that most restaurants will be closed until the fast breaks at dusk, and that eating or drinking in public in daylight is considered very impolite. Ask your hotel exactly what that means for meals and for the pool or beach during daylight. It’s just not the same holiday as the other months.

Wikivoyage also says the Dubai Shopping Festival has run since 1996, with sales in January and February. I looked for the official 2026-27 dates. The travel sites I found gave four different ranges and none was official, so I’ve left them out. Check Dubai’s official tourism site closer to your dates, and don’t build a booking around a date a blog gave you. That includes this one.

So, which month for you?

Here’s how I’d decide, in order.

  1. Can you only go in a fixed school or work window? Then choose from what’s left on the table above.
  2. Do you want outdoor days with little planning? December to February.
  3. Is the beach the point? November or March.
  4. Is the budget the point? Look at summer, and be honest with yourself about 40 °C.
  5. Travelling with parents or small kids? I’d go in the cool season, even if it costs more. Midday heat is harder on both ends of the age range.

If Dubai isn’t settled yet and you’re comparing, our piece on weekend getaways from Delhi covers trips that don’t need a flight at all.

What to pack for each season

For November to March: light cotton in the day, plus a thin layer for evenings and for the indoor air conditioning, which is cold. For April to October: the lightest clothes you own, sunglasses and a hat. Wikivoyage’s warning about cold nights is real in winter, and in summer the opposite is true: the night is 30.4 °C in August, so don’t count on it to cool you.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best month to visit Dubai?

For comfortable weather, January is hard to beat: the usual high is 24.0 °C and the night is 14.3 °C. December and February are close. If you want the beach, I’d look at November or March instead.

Is Dubai too hot in summer?

From June to September the usual highs are 39.9 to 42.1 °C, and Wikivoyage says humidity near the coast is 60% to 70%. Most outdoor activity in daylight is hard. Indoor plans, early mornings and late evenings work.

Is October a good time to visit Dubai?

It’s a shoulder month. The usual high is 36.5 °C, so midday is hot, but Wikivoyage counts October as part of the cooler, more pleasant stretch that starts at the end of September. Plan outdoor things for mornings and evenings.

When is Ramadan in Dubai?

Ramadan 2027 is listed as 8 February to 8 March 2027, though it can shift by a day. It moves about 10 to 11 days earlier each year. Restaurants may be closed in daylight, so ask your hotel.

Does it rain in Dubai?

Not much. Wikipedia puts the yearly average at 79.2 mm. The wetter months are December to March, and showers are usually short.
